I won the office pool anyway. I can't help myself! I came out 25 points ahead of anyone else in the office, which given the number of college basketball games I've watched this season (zero) is pretty awesome.
Apparenly, popular sentiment demands my return to blogging. Who knew? My gripe for the day is:What's up with George Mason's basketball team? Are they on drugs? They've won all their games AND they've ruined my chances of winning my office NCAA pool. I've won for the last 2 years in a row, and frankly, I know very little about college basketball. What I do know is that it's not a bad idea to go with UConn, and George Mason has ruined it. Now, not only do I have to keep my mouth shut about how incredible my psychic abilities are, I won't be able to go and buy myself a cream cheese filled donut as my reward. Sorry, Suzy Jo's. Your donuts probably deserve a post of their own, but a link will have to suffice. In better culinary news, I picked up a bag of these this morning. Yummy! In other news, thanks to Nixon's Head, Mates of State, The Books, Jose Gonzalez, The Go! Team, Silver Jews, Joe Lally/Don Zientara/Craig Wedren, the Pogues, Sam Prekop, Archer Prewitt, and Stereolab for being my soundtrack for the last week. Last week in an 8 day span I attended the equivalent of 8 shows. I wish someone would pay me for this. My musical tip for the night, however, since I should really leave you with something interesting...go see Laura Veirs on her upcoming east coast jaunt. She's fabulous. I can't recommend her more, so if you're curious, go to here for a recently recorded show where she opened up for the solo Colin Meloy (seen below). Actually, the whole project that NPR has undertaken with recording shows and allowing them to be downloaded and such is really cool. Yay NPR!
